The AN-225 landed in Perth today - some two hours late, thanks to Jakata ATC, but hey...

Perth Airport put together an amazing effort to accommodate the public - a 30,000 capacity viewing area on the East side, as well as opening up Western Viewing Platform quite a bit more.

Toilets and food vans were put on - although they could have put on some more food vans, given the delays - but they could not have predicted that.

There were plenty of liaison staff wandering about the crowds, and a subtle security presence.

Traffic control on the ground was amazing, and about the only thing that they could have added was some hotspots in the viewing areas - the 3g and 4g networks were jammed solid, and that made getting information in and photos out a challenge.

And the 225 itself? It wowed the crowd, just as predicted. A shame it did not come in from the South, but it did mean we got a great view of the taxi-past.
