The Aeronaut #WeeklyPhotoProject2013 Weekly Photo Project 2013 curated by Andrew Willard , Iain Harley and  Tiina Niskanen Week 20: Contrasting Colours Two of these powered paragliders flew past us on the weekend, only a few hundred feet up. They looked like they were having fun!

"Autumn Afternoon Light"

"Autumn Afternoon Light" #WeeklyPhotoProject2013 Weekly Photo Project 2013 curated by Andrew Willard , Iain Harley and  Tiina Niskanen Week 15: HDR This was taken while waiting for the bus just outside of work. I had been taking some shots of jets coming in on final approach (the airport boundary is about 2km from my office) when the light became just right on some lemon gums across the road. The title is stylistically inspired by the chapter titles from "Yokohama  Kaidashi Kikou", a very quiet and magical manga I am inordinately fond of.

Oh, the Stargate did win!

The escorting Pfalz DVIIIs close in to take care of the interruption... A scene from a game of Wings of Glory at this week's Western Australian Boardgame Association's meeting. A chance for me to merge two of my hobbies :)

It is in walking distance of two train stations on two separate lines, and has a surprising amount of parking available. It is also a part of a chain of lake reserves that extend from Joondalup in the north to Rockingham in the south. Heavily landscaped in the 1930s-1970s, extensive shoreline rehabilitiation is taking place, and the wildlife is flourishing.

We'd been getting "Thunderstorms late this week" for the past two weeks - today the forecast for tomorrow in Perth is 41C and thunderstorms. And I got my shot of mare's tails and threatening skies.

"Summer? Winter??" #WeeklyPhotoProject2013 curated by  Andrew Willard , Iain Harley and  Tiina Niskanen Weekly Photo Project 2013 Week 2: Winter / Summer While the East Coast of Australia roasts and burns, alternating heatwave and violent storms on the West Coast have sculpted the beaches into their winter shapes. On this day a powerful Southerly wind came up late in the day, creating a scene of summer temperatures with winter seas. Taken at Floreat Beach, Perth.
