LOHAN (the Low Orbit Helium Assisted Navigator) project has to do an emergency re-locate to New Mexico from Spain (a comedy of bureaucratic idiocies) and even El Reg's pockets are not bottomless.

Plus, mission patches.

Five Decades of Overfishing

Between 1950 and 2014 the #ocean has seen a lot of changes. For example, Pacific Bluefin #Tuna, #sharks, and North Atlantic Cod were all almost fished to extinction. Only between 5% and 10% remain.

This #infographic #gif is from the Mission Blue documentary on the life and work of ocean legend Sylvia A. Earle.

"Street-view"

Something a little different, this was shot just outside our local board-gaming cafe ( Cafe Myriade , if you're in Perth ).  This is one of several pieces of street art on Lake St, and one of my favourites.

"Rush Hour"

I was brewing a migraine, so Alicia Smith picked me up from work in the evening. Our commute takes us through the "Polly Pipe", so named for Graham "Polly" Farmer, for whom the Graham Farmer Freeway is named. To try and distract myself, I took a few shots, and produced this very SFinal result.

Week 31 : In the Garden

"The old almond tree"
Out the back of our house we have a 60+ year old almond tree, which is a haven for the large white-tailed black cockatoos each summer.

Sadly, due to a falling water table and moving to a sewer system from septic tanks, it is struggling to find water, and this may be one of the last seasons that it flowers.

Camera Bags: A Rant of Frustration from a Woman's Perspective, by @nicolesy:

I’m a woman, and I like purses and bags. I am also a photographer, and so with that I tend to collect lots of cool bags. Yay, bags! I have more than I will use, some come and go with my photography style or locations I travel to, and some have stuck…

Boingboing finds some real gems. Like this one... I'll also add that quantum physicists have very good senses of humour. And full marks to the reviewers and editors who let them get away with it.

This is great! Choice's article about boardgaming is a really good read, and mentions some of the great gateway Eurogames (TTR, SoC, etc).

"According to this definition, metadata is not what you type on a device or say over the phone, but rather the footprint that's left behind. For instance, when you use a phone or mobile, this includes the number called, the location from which the call is made, and the duration of the call", writes Ben Grubb and James Massola in the Sydney Mornig Herald.
