Well we've got a fun one this week! Banjo spaceships, alien abductions, and a country cover of a classic rock anthem. Offering up a counterpoint to my belief that almost any song can sound good when played by the right people (see - " ...Baby One More Time" by Ahmet and Dweezil Zappa ), this shows that some songs cannot be harmed by the style in which they are played. So sit back and relax (or not) as The Dead South cover "People Are Strange", from 2021.

It is becoming increasingly hard to find SFF music videos that are not intrinsically depressing or that end on a serious downer. In case you're wondering what that has to do with things... The world is in a terrible place right now, and I figure that keeping my videos on the light side for now is for the best. So, my hunt, aided by the amazing Leece, continues.  In fact, she dug up this week's little gem. This little post-apocalyptic visit to a funfair has just enough of an uncertainty at the end to make the grade, so let's run with "Carnival of Rust" by the Finnish band Poets of the Fall, from 2006's album of the same name.

Late again, I know! Once again, we are faced with the question of who or what the monster in this is. Amazingly evocative, and very thought provoking - but I will not say too much because spoilers. Be intrigued by "Monster" by Starset, from 2016's Vessels.

I'm running late again, I know. This week we get a cut-price, but very personal, International Rescue. Just roll with it, really.  It is from The Shins, from 2001, and the album "Oh, Inverted World". Enjoy!

Well, I've got five more to go to the 100th post of this theme. I wonder what I'll do for that one? This week, however, brings us some magical stop-motion animation. Blurring between stage magic and MAGIC we have a tale of youth against the Establishment. It is quite the journey!  The band itself is an intriguing journey from indie rock band, to solo project calling itself a band, and back to being a band again.  So here is 2012's "The Rifle's Spiral" by The Shins, from Port of Morrow.

The force of musical chaos that is Ex Hex has created a couple of genre-based clips. This is from their first album, and is simple chaos-spreading fun with a solid rock theme. Nothing more to say here, except for "Stand up and rock out" to "Waterfall" from the album Rips by Ex Hex.

It is Valentine's Day, so I'm going for a little romance, and what could be better than a pastiche of Le Voyage dans la Lune? A romance of science and the heart, we follow the charming couple who are our protagonists through their magical journey to the moon and back. Smashing Pumpkins did not originally intend this to be the style of video for this song, and had tremendous problems with costuming, as Titanic was being filmed at the same time. Despite this, they were able to shoot a Georges Méliès themed video, with back-drops and puppet work, in just three days. So darken the room, cuddle up, and enjoy "Tonight, Tonight" by Smashing Pumpkins.

This week we have a steel version of The Great Glass Elevator, fortunately without any Vermicious Knids, thanks for Angie Aparo's "Spaceship".  I do apologise for the quality of this one, but it is the only example I can find.
