Puddles Pity Party
Puddles Pity Party Sad Clown
Based on a cover of 'Mad World' with Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox, we decided to give Puddles Pity Party a go.
To adapt a quote attributed to Kitty Carlisle by They Might Be Giants "If you one Fringe show this year, there's something terribly wrong with you!" Seriously though, Puddles would be the one to pick.
Why?
Firstly he has one of the most gorgeous voices on the planet. Rich and smooth and powerful. Combine this with a phenomenal stage presence and sense of theatre. Finally, cap it off with the most amazing sensitivity to to audience. This is one clown you will not be scared of.
Throughout the show he does not speak - only sings (and occasional mime). His self-deprecating character is expressed through song and in his interactions with audience members - many of whom will find themselves on stage at some point or another.
The one hour show features more music than I can count, and some wonderful visual comedy. We were also treated to an Australian musical tradition, some amazing backing vocals by a pair of audience members, and the most wicked air guitar duet ever seen at the Fringe.
10/10 and the party you wish you had been invited to on the Sid and Nancy scale.
