And here is the second of my political postings, although really it is Alicia Smith's. Visit belowtheline.org.au. Look at what the party ticket votes above the line actually mean, and consider if you can do a better job of distributing your preferences yourself.

While you are at it, do a bit of research - find out what these people stand for - and who they stand for. Do you want to be represented by an associate of a major mining magnate? Do you want to be represented by a rabid socialist? Howabout a raving gun nut? Or someone who puts sharks above people? If you don't read up about them how do you know?

Lastly, do as Alicia suggests, and learn more about how the senate elections work, and remember that the only way you can waste your vote is to vote informal. Or not vote at all.

Vote responsibly - it is supposed to be your government. Make it so.

Western Australians, make your vote really count. http://www.belowtheline.org.au/state/wa.html makes it easy, even to the point where you can print out a copy or put it on your device and take it with you so that copying it to your actual form will be dead easy.
Start thinking and vote below the line.
Also, for those who are still uncertain as to how it all works and why it matters - learn with Ken the voting dingo at http://www.chickennation.com/tag/voting/
