Google's name/nym/etc policy has been revised.

Note that other technical revisions are also taking place (to improve the review and reporting processes), but will take time to fully implement.

Not perfect, yet, but better, and I suspect it never will be. As I have previously observed, there are humans involved.

    If only they replaced "*the* name that you commonly go by in daily life" with "*a* name that you commonly go by in daily life"...
