One awesome person. Two of them, actually. I've been seeing ads for this guy's show. I'm still not sure which one is the supervillain and which one is a TV celebrity.

This is so amazing!

This is so amazing! Stunning in-period imagery, superb musicians, and Addie Hamilton has a voice that would lead many a man (and not a few women) to their dooms. I wonder what Deborah Harry thinks of it? https://youtu.be/DTMoipsvGNc

Ryk Spoor has written a very thoughtful piece about handling good bad reviews.

Ryk Spoor has written a very thoughtful piece about handling good bad reviews. As opposed to bad bad reviews (e.g. "It stinks.") and bad good reviews (e.g. "Totes awesomeness!!!"). Good good reviews, I would hope, require little discussion on how to handle - although setting up a shrine and dedicating one's life to the reviewer may be a little excessive. The good bad ones, though, where the reviewer takes the time to discuss exactly what they believe is wrong with the work and why, they are a far more interesting matter. http://grandcentralarena.com/the-author-and-criticism/

Via Ananda Sim Originally shared by Sue T How do you minimise on-line abuse? Start with the obvious - you need competent, well informed staff who are fully resourced to deal with the issue. This would include moderators as well as on the tech side. "Depending on the size of the community, it requires people who have specifically been tasked with moderating a community, staying up to date on larger social and cultural issues that drive abuse, and learning from other communities about what threats they face. This of course has to be matched with the appropriate technological resources to build systems to protect and empower targets or potential targets." I've certainly been put off participating in forums where comments aren't moderated and where there's an influx of people (or trolls) determined to prevent informed, civil discussion and who drown out everyone else. via Kimberly Chapman  https://medium.com/humane-tech/the-immortal-myths-about-online-abuse-a156e337...

So if "Offence is always taken, not given" as the Senator states, why not repeal the libel laws as well?

So if "Offence is always taken, not given" as the Senator states, why not repeal the libel laws as well? Let anyone say anything about anyone or anything. By his standards, if I were to refer to him as "a dangerously bigotted senile moron" (which would be libelous if I were to do so), he should have no recourse. Our security people just circulated this CERT advisory:

Originally shared by Stephen Gunnell Our security people just circulated this CERT advisory: During the past few days, several researchers as well as McAfee Labs published reports about ongoing smishing campaigns that are aimed at stealing users Apple credentials. Smishing is a specific kind of phishing that is using SMS messages instead of emails to trick the user into clicking malicious links. The most dangerous part of this attack is the fact, that users are not easily able to check the real URL behind a link and are more willing to click a link within a SMS message from a spoofed sender than within a suspicious email. Siemens CERT recommendation: • Do not click on links within SMS messages. • Avoid logins within websites you reached through links. Always type-in the URL manually or use bookmarks that you have created manually after verifying the origin of the webpage. • Please check regularly the connected devices through the Apple-ID website. • Please take care of emails from Appl...
