h/t to Alastair Irvine for the link, and Alicia Smith for getting me to hunt it down.

OK Go continue to produce the best goddamn music videos on the planet. I'm still trying to work out if the last scene is real or CGI (knowing these guys, it's real).

If it's real what are they using for a camera? Quad copter?
ReplyDeleteDJI PhantomII Quadcopter.
ReplyDeleteCrunchyRoll News says it was a single take.
ReplyDeleteThe last scene is probably the easiest ... just do a slow 360 on the drone.
ReplyDelete... I guess you meant the "ticker tape" effect!?
Yeah, +Ashley Felton is talking about the animated peopixels.
ReplyDeleteSo it's an LCD - a Large Crowd Display.
ReplyDeleteElaine Walker That was funny!
ReplyDeleteElaine Walker Groans. Then applauds.
ReplyDeleteI admit it was not original to me. I think I got it, or very close to it, from an Iain Banks book called The Business
ReplyDeleteElaine Walker Yeah, but i bet your was actually funny. (TIMING).
ReplyDeleteI'd read (on CNN I think) that it was all real. They filmed it at half speed and then played back at normal. Took about 50 tries I believe.
ReplyDelete(Applauds) Well done Elaine Walker!

ReplyDeleteDJI S1000 but no specification on camera yet. S1000 can fly most anything.
In action,it is not realtime sync on video,it's slower, some time fast forward and some time stop motion.
ReplyDeleteI did think some of the timing looked slightly out but it would be a lot easier to do the last looking down scene in close to slow motion or stop motion
ReplyDeleteI can see it taking 50 tries.
