    I have rarely voted for a person. I've always looked at the party as a whole anyway. The PM has always just been a figurehead, elected by the party to be the "face" of the party.

    sorry but in our american style of today, people foolishly look at the leaders first. look at the first statement of our new old pm i can''t let TA in as pm it's not the policies they target it's the person.

    Yes, Abbott has totally neglected to mention that politicians are fundamentally elected as local representatives. Currently, there is much emphasis on “the President Prime Minister” rather than keeping people informed and represented. It’s a shame that elections are based on our geographical constituency rather than on our demographics, as it means our politicians are chasing votes the wrong way.
